Jos Baeten has been appointed Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau
On Thursday, June 4, Mr. J. (Jos) Baeten of Oostvoorne received a royal honor from Mayor Arno Scheepers. He was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of his longstanding and exceptional dedication to a.s.r. Nederland, the insurance sector, and society. The award was presented during his farewell reception at the a.s.r. Nederland office in Utrecht.

Mr. Baeten has dedicated more than 45 years to the Dutch business community. Of those years, he spent 20 as CEO. During and after the 2008 financial crisis, he led the unwinding and restructuring of a.s.r. Nederland. In doing so, he ensured that a.s.r. remained in Dutch hands and that the interests of policyholders were protected. Under his leadership, the company grew into a stable, socially responsible, and financially sound organization.
He also played a key role in the insurance industry as a whole. As chairman of the Dutch Association of Insurers, he helped shape the industry’s development, always placing social responsibility at the forefront. At a.s.r., he emphasized humanity, social commitment, and an exemplary compensation policy. During the COVID-19 crisis, he brought a sense of calm and prioritized the human element.
In addition, he tackled complex issues, such as the problem of excessive-interest insurance policies, with care and a focus on the customer. He also made clear choices regarding sustainability and solidarity. His commitment extends beyond his own organization. He also played an active role in public debates on topics including the housing market, the disability insurance system, and climate risks.
His leadership is characterized by vision, decisiveness, and a strong commitment to society: confidence in the sector has been restored and strengthened, the human and social dimensions remain central, and his dedication has led to structural improvements in policy.press
The municipality of Voorne aan Zee warmest Voorne aan Zee Mr. Baeten on this special honor.
