On Thursday, December 4, the annual commemoration will take place near Meeldijk 2 in Zwartewaal in memory of the four people who lost their lives on the night of December 4-5, 1944, after a raid by the occupying forces. During this raid, the occupiers were searching for people in hiding. The Koene brothers, who were sheltering three Italian people in hiding, were shot dead. Two of the Italian people in hiding were also killed during this raid, while the third managed to escape.
On Saturday, December 6, a commemoration ceremony will be held at the monument in the dunes near the Second Battle of Rockanje. The victims of the execution on Blindeweg (Rockanje) on December 21, 1944, will also be commemorated during this ceremony.
These commemorations allow us to reflect on the courageous resistance and the great sacrifice these people made during this dark period in our history. We invite you to attend and join us in paying our respects to the victims.
