Municipality of Voorne aan Zee wants to purchase Korenmolen to preserve heritage.

The Municipality of Voorne aan Zee is committed to the preservation and development of cultural heritage.

Recently, except for some final details, the municipality has reached an agreement with the owner on the purchase of the Corn Mill, the mill yard and the property in Oostvoorne. This upcoming purchase not only protects the historical value of the Korenmolen and the surrounding area, but also contributes to sustainable and social goals.

Local identity

The Wheat Mill and surrounding mill yard was put up for sale earlier this year, and now the municipality has reached agreement with the owner on the purchase of the Wheat Mill, mill yard, including property, except for some final details. This upcoming addition to the municipality's heritage is in line with national heritage goals and policies. Cultural heritage is an important part of our local identity. The proposed purchase will allow the municipality to preserve and enhance the history, setting and value of the Corn Mill and mill yard.

Meeting place

The Corn Mill already fulfills an important educational role and is a meeting place for various audiences. Since 1998, Foundation S.T.O.R.M. (Stichting Ter Ondersteuning Restauratie Molen) has been dedicated to the preservation and operation of the mill. The organization wishes to continue this role and looks forward to working with the municipality to further develop the mill site and make it accessible to a wide audience.

The Korenmolen, the yard and the property can contribute to social projects, for example by giving people with a distance to the labor market a role. The mill yard in Oostvoorne thus becomes not only a place of historical value, but also a space for meeting, inclusion and sustainability.

Alderman Els Priester: "We are proud of our cultural heritage here in Voorne aan Zee and it is also a particularly wonderful opportunity, which we are happy to seize, to use the property for a social purpose."
