Municipality of Voorne aan Zee pleased with court ruling on odor nuisance
The municipality of Voorne aan Zee is pleased with the judge's ruling that cannabis grower CanAdelaar in the Hellevoetsluis polder must reduce the odor nuisance within a week. The interim relief judge ruled Wednesday, Sept. 10, that the customized regulation imposed by the municipality on the company CanAdelaar because of the odor nuisance is valid for the time being. The municipality is therefore satisfied with this ruling, as it does justice to the great nuisance residents have experienced in recent years from the cannabis farm.
Mayor Arno Scheepers: "We are extremely pleased that the judge has confirmed that the quality of life of our residents is paramount and that the basis for our enforcement is in order. Of course, we would prefer not to face an entrepreneur from our own municipality in court, but unfortunately this was necessary in the interest of our residents who have suffered from odor nuisance for far too long. Now that we can apply the customization rules, we can continue with the enforcement initiated together with the environmental service DCMR."
