The Municipality Voorne aan Zee a campaign against vaping among young people
With its “No Smoking” campaign, the municipality Voorne aan Zee aims to discourage Voorne aan Zee from vaping and raise their awareness of the risks. On May 27, Alderman Priester kicked off the campaign at the Helius sports club by literally stepping out of the smoke and handing out smoothies to students.

Despite the ban on selling vapes to anyone under 18, more and more young people are becoming addicted to vaping. With appealing flavors, lights, and bright colors, it’s almost impossible for teenagers to resist giving it a try. The municipality Voorne aan Zee , together with partners from the municipality and the region, Voorne aan Zee put a stop to this.
Vaping may seem harmless, but it isn’t. It’s addictive and can cause serious health problems. “Young people are often unaware of the consequences for their future. Vaping comes at the expense of their sports, hobbies, friendships, and academic performance. And it also costs a lot of money. With this campaign, we want to encourage young people not to start vaping or to quit. We don’t want them to let their future go up in smoke,” says Alderman Priester.
Campaign for young people ages 12 to 18
The campaign targets young people aged 12 to 18. A large part of the campaign takes place online. Youth workers from the Push Foundation took to the streets and spoke with young people about vaping. Short videos were made of these conversations, which young people can watch on TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, and on the Niet in rook website. Posters are also displayed in schools, sports clubs, and other locations throughout the municipality to draw additional attention to the campaign.
Cooperation and Public Education
The municipality is calling on other organizations and sports clubs to join the anti-vaping coalition in Voorne aan Zee. The Push Foundation, Youz, various schools, and the Helius handball club are already participating.
Together, we can help young people resist this addiction. The more organizations that share this message, the greater the impact. The campaign materials are easy to download from the Niet in rook website at.
