Municipality of Voorne aan Zee adjusts crosswalks on two main roads in Hellevoetsluis
To improve traffic safety in Hellevoetsluis and ensure long-term accessibility, traffic engineering adjustments will soon be made on two main roads. On the east, south and west sides of the Amnesty Internationallaan / Rijksstraatweg traffic circle, work will begin in February to relocate the pedestrian and bicycle crossing.
The relocation of the crosswalk on the north side has already greatly improved the situation; now the other crosswalks will follow. The crossings at this traffic circle are frequently used by schoolchildren.
From the end of March 2026, the two crossings at Nelson Mandelalaan will also be modified. At the crossings at Dorpsweg and Bonseweg, traffic platforms will be realized with traffic lights. Car traffic will have a green light there unless a pedestrian or cyclist wants to cross. The traffic platforms have a braking and attention increasing value compared to the current situation. The city council has made funds available for both locations.
