In March 2026, the municipality Voorne aan Zee is organizing Voorne aan Zee microchip campaign for cats in the towns of Hellevoetsluis, Rockanje, and Oostvoorne. The campaign is intended for cat owners throughout the municipality Voorne aan Zee. Does your cat not yet have a microchip? Then you can have one implanted on March 11, 21, or 25.

Microchipping cats is important. A microchip helps you find your cat quickly if it goes missing. This means your cat will return home safely sooner. It also prevents cats from having to stay in a shelter for long periods of time. This is better for the animal and prevents unnecessary costs for the municipality and residents.

The campaign is being carried out by the Animal Protection Agency. The municipality is covering most of the costs, so you only pay a contribution of €5 per household, regardless of the number of cats.

Registration for the microchip campaign is mandatory. There are a limited number of places available, so register in good time. You can register via the animal protection website.

With this initiative, the municipality is anticipating the national microchipping and registration requirement that is expected to come into effect in 2026. In this way, we can work together to improve animal welfare and safety for our cats.
