Municipality of Voorne aan Zee awareness of homelessness

Not everyone in our community has a permanent and safe place to live. Homelessness is not just about people sleeping on the streets. It also includes people who are temporarily staying with friends or family, sleeping in a car, living on a campsite, or constantly having to move from place to place. It is precisely these situations that often remain out of sight.

The municipality Voorne aan Zee therefore Voorne aan Zee in the ETHOS census together with the other municipalities in the South Holland Islands region. On May 12, 2026, municipalities and organizations will report in Map people do not have a stable place to live or stay and what their situations are.

The census in our region officially started on February 9 with a meeting for census organizations. During this meeting, organizations were given an explanation of the purpose of the census and the importance of obtaining as complete a picture as possible.

Alderman Priester emphasizes the importance of this approach: "Behind every number is a person, with their own story and their own concerns. By working together Map record in Map who does not have a permanent place to live, we can collaborate more effectively and, as far as possible, prevent people from remaining in uncertain and unsustainable living situations for long periods of time.'

The information from the survey is completely anonymous. Personal data will not be shared with municipalities. The data will be collected and processed by Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, an independent institution. This ensures that participation will not have any negative consequences for residents.
