Municipality places camera in Oostvoorne in fight against nuisance

The Municipality of Voorne aan Zee will place a camera on the Stationsweg, near the Albert Heijn supermarket in Oostvoorne, starting September 24. This decision was taken because of persistent nuisance at this location, including intimidation, vandalism and open violence. With the camera surveillance, the municipality, together with police and enforcement, wants to be able to act faster and more effectively and increase the sense of safety in the neighborhood.
Mayor Scheepers explained, "Although previous measures have brought some improvement, the nuisance at this location remains a point of Health. With the use of camera surveillance we can not only identify incidents faster, it also has a preventive effect. This contributes to a safer and more livable environment for residents and visitors.
The camera will remain on Station Road for a period of six months. Images will be kept for a maximum of 28 days and can only be used by police and judicial authorities for investigative purposes. The camera surveillance focuses exclusively on public areas and meets strict legal Requirements. Local residents have been informed in advance through a letter and signs at the location point out the camera surveillance.
Report nuisance
The municipality stresses the importance of reporting nuisances to police and enforcement. "Your report is crucial to be able to take effective action against nuisance and crime. Only together can we ensure a safe living environment," said Mayor Scheepers.
