Fresh refurbishment for tunnel between beaches
Currently, the tunnel under the N57 between Quack Beach in Hellevoetsluis and Rockanje beach is getting a fresh refurbishment.
The college of Voorne aan Zee decided in March 2023 to continue working on the future of the Haringvliet estuary. To this end, an implementation program has been drawn up, focusing on two key areas: the Sanding Haringvliet estuary and the Rockanje Center Plan. This program makes the first improvements possible, thanks to money from the "Net op Zee" project. In July 2023 it was decided to implement this plan.
Colorful appearance
An important part is improving access to the beaches and increasing the quality of the recreational areas. For example, the small tunnel under the N57 near Quack Beach in Hellevoetsluis is being refurbished. This tunnel connects the fresh side with the salt side of the area.
The tunnel will be cleaned and given a colorful new look. Studio Pogo is providing the design and painting. They are painting animals from the area with light colors, making the route between the two beaches much more pleasant. This way we make the access to the sea even more attractive.
