CNS De Nieuwe Weg is currently located in a building on Nieuweweg in Oostvoorne. That building no longer meets the requirements for quality education. The new building will be located on Vrouwe Machteldweg. There, the school will have a sustainable and future-proof building. The agreement letter outlines how the municipality Voorne aan Zee the EduMare Education Group will collaborate on the preparation and execution of the construction project, as well as who is responsible for what.

The school board is the project owner and oversees the preparation and construction. The municipality establishes the Requirements guiding principles and reviews the plans.

Learning in a pleasant place

Alderman Jan Spoon is especially happy for the students who will soon be attending classes in the new building: “Every child deserves a pleasant place to learn—a place you look forward to going to every day. With these agreements, we are taking the first steps toward creating such a pleasant building for CNS De Nieuwe Weg.”

Margreet de Vries, director of the EduMare Education Group, adds: “Together with the municipality, the school staff, parents, and local residents, we are developing a beautiful new school building that is so much more than just a building. It is a place where students receive a high-quality, appropriate education, where local residents feel welcome, and where the school contributes to the quality of life and sense of community in the neighborhood.”

Integrated Child Center

The school will become more than just a school. In addition to education, the building will also house childcare facilities and a community space. This will create an Integrated Child Center (IKC) where children can grow and learn in a familiar environment. The community space will provide a venue for supporting neighborhood activities.
The municipality Voorne aan Zee the EduMare Education Group will be working on establishing IKCs in additional locations in the coming years.

Residents Have a Say

In the coming period, the design for the IKC in Oostvoorne will be further developed. Local residents will be invited to contribute their ideas. To this end, the school board is launching a public engagement process in consultation with the municipality. Residents in the neighborhood will be invited to participate toward the end of this year. The focus will be primarily on issues such as traffic and the layout of public spaces and the playground surrounding the school.
