A citizens' initiative is a proposal or idea you would like to see in your municipality. The idea is presented to the municipal council. Residents can ask for help such as a financial contribution.
Who is it for?
Are you a resident of Voorne aan Zee and 16 years of age or older? Then you can submit a citizens' initiative.

Game Rules
- Your idea must be on a topic on which the City Council may decide.
- For an idea that specifically affects one area, you need at least 100 signatures from residents of Voorne aan Zee aged 16 and older.
- For a village or neighborhood idea, you need at least 200 signatures from residents of Voorne aan Zee aged 16 and older.
- For a community-wide idea, you need at least 500 signatures from residents of Voorne aan Zee aged 16 and older.
- Clearly state what you want the City Council to decide on.
- Your idea should not be about, among other things: the municipal organization, the budget, taxes, decisions made by the City Council, or people.

What happens after you submit your idea?
When you submit the idea, three steps follow:
Step 1. We see if your idea meets the rules of the game.
- It meets the rules of the game. You will be notified within two weeks whether your idea meets the rules.
- No, the idea does not meet the rules. You will be notified within two weeks where the idea does not (yet) meet the rules and you will have four weeks to modify your idea.(*)
Step 2. Your idea is discussed in the City Council.
Step 3. A decision is made regarding the approval of your idea.

How long does it take?
The City Council will decide on your idea/initiative in up to 10 weeks. We will keep you informed of the progress!
