Construction and remodeling, inspection

The municipality checks that everyone who builds or renovates follows the rules. For example, whether they are building according to building regulations. And whether there is a permit to rebuild. The municipality also checks for noise, vibrations and waste.

If you think a construction or renovation is not going according to the rules, you can report it to the municipality.

How does it work?

Municipal inspectors conduct the inspection. They may:

  • enter buildings without permission;
  • requesting information;
  • Review business records and documents and make copies of them;
  • examining things, for example, opening packages and taking stuff.

The inspectors should never enter homes without the permission of the residents.

If the municipality finds that a building or renovation is not going according to the rules, it can stop the construction or renovation. The municipality can also close access to the building.
