Blank votes, what are they?

Not sure who to vote for? Or do you disagree with all the political parties? Then you can cast a 'blank' vote. You are still exercising your right to vote, but you are not choosing a party or candidate. You cast a blank vote by not filling in any of the boxes on the ballot paper and placing the empty ballot paper in the ballot box.

A blank vote counts towards the total turnout percentage, but not towards the distribution of seats. A blank vote does not therefore go to a particular party. The polling stations and the main polling station record the number of blank votes in the minutes of the session. More information can be found on the website of the Electoral Council.
